Every so often, I get to edit a book that really speaks to me. The Italian Thing by Patricia Salamone was one of those books. I had the honor of editing the new, 2016 edition of her memoir about a trip she and her husband made to meet his family in the small village of Naro, Italy. It seemed that just about anything that could go wrong did on that month-long 2002 vacation, and yet their family always insisted, “Everything will be fine!”
Throughout the book, I laughed out loud; other times, I had tears in my eyes. By the time I was done, I felt like I was part of the family. For a lighthearted and humorous travel memoir all about family, food, and terrific memories, I recommend this quick and heartwarming read.
